Why do I need to feed the media before drawing?

  • The pre-feeding (feeding the media before drawing) is performed for the following reasons.

1) Ease the expansion and contraction due to changes in the environment
A roll of paper more or less expands or contracts due to changes in the ambient environment when the taken-up paper becomes slack during cutting. This makes the positional relationship out of alignment at the start and end of cutting or the paper easy to snake or skew.

2) Soften the impact when the media is fed out of the roll by loosening the media in advance
When the pinch rollers and grid rollers feed the media forward, the media may go out of alignment or the drawing may be deviated due to an impact on the media which is pulled out from the rolled one.

You are recommended to set the pre-feed to 3m x 3 times.
