Print & Cut - Overview

RasterLink7 allows cut data to be output to print & cut machines and cutting devices as follows:

Direct output to a print & cut machine

Print data and cut data can be output directly to a print & cut machine (CJV/UCJV Series).
This section describes the settings.

Direct output to a cutting device

Cut data can be output directly to a cutting device by linking it to a printer registered in RasterLink7.
This section describes the settings.

Output to a cutting device using CuttingLink

When printing data for cutting, ID data is printed at the same time, and the function for cutting based on this ID data is referred to as "ID Cut".
CuttingLink is the software used to manage cut data, link it to ID data, and output to a cutting device.

Output method using CuttingLink

Data can be output using CuttingLink using either of the following two methods:

1. Send cut data from FineCut

This method is used when there are conditions or other parameters that can be set only in FineCut.

The output procedure is as follows:

  1. Create print & cut data with ID data using FineCut.

  2. Configure the various output settings using FineCut, then send to CuttingLink.

  3. Print the created data using RasterLink7.

  4. Load the printed media in the cutting device or print & cut machine, then scan the ID.

  5. Acquire the cut data from CuttingLink, then cut the media.

For more information, refer to the separate "ID Cut Guide (Using FineCut)".

2. Send cut data from RasterLink7

This method is used when direct output from RasterLink7 is not supported. It also helps to prevent selection mistakes when using a print & cut machine, as there is no need to output the cutting data again when cutting after having removed the media from the printer, such as when cutting after post-processing such as lamination after printing.

The output procedure is as follows:

  1. Add ID data to print & cut jobs using RasterLink7, then use [Cut after Print].

    • The print data is sent to the printer, and the cut data is sent to CuttingLink.
  2. Load the printed media in the cutting device or print & cut machine, then scan the ID.

  3. Acquire the cut data from CuttingLink, then cut the media.

For more information, refer to the separate "Print & Cut Machine ID Cut Guide".
