Mimaki Engineering Co., Ltd., a global industry leader and manufacturer of wide format inkjet printers and cutting plotters, announced today that it will launch the inkjet printer TS30-1300 in March 2016. The 1.3-m wide roll-to-roll sublimation inkjet printer TS30-1300 is a dedicated transfer paper printer for the textile print industry.

In recent years, the textile and apparel industry has seen an accelerating shift from conventional plate-based analog printing to plateless digital printing. With conventional analog printing, a separate printing plate is required for each color and there is the need for deposition to promote dye fixation and washing to remove unfixed dye, chemical agent, and glue after printing. The deposition and washing processes require large-sized machines, and massive amounts of water are also needed. Digital sublimation transfer printing, by contrast, only requires the transfer process after printing and in principle does not need the deposition and washing processes, thus eliminating the need for large-sized machines and allowing introduction at low cost. Moreover, the sublimation transfer printing method is expected to come into wider use because it does not use water in its processes and therefore has little environmental impact. The sublimation transfer printer market is expanding, with the use of sublimation transfer printers increasing not just among apparel makers and printing companies but among sewing firms and design studios as well.

The TS30-1300 has been developed as an entry model best suited to high-mix low-volume production of apparel prototypes and ordered goods. Without a heater and take-up device, the printer features only those functions needed for sublimation transfer printing, which makes it easy to operate when printing. Also, it comes with Mimaki's water-based sublimation ink Sb54 offering high ink ejection stability that can be used at ease.

The TS30-1300 is a "do-it-yourself" type of printer that allows you to rapidly and easily print necessary things in necessary quantities when they are necessary.

2. Printing on necessary items in necessary quantities as needed

TS30-1300 realizes the in-house production of high-mix low-volume print products, such as textile or sports apparel prototyping or the creation of customized items. Performing the printing jobs, formerly outsourced to a subcontractor, the in-house production reduces the lead time of sample delivery to the client. Additionally, when the client requests a change in the design, the new design can be printed and delivered immediately without asking a subcontractor. The TS30-1300 enhances presentation ability and increases business opportunities.
