Mimaki Engineering Co., Ltd. (President: Mikio Noguchi; Headquarters: Nagano, Japan), a leading manufacturer of wide format inkjet printers, today introduced a sublimation inkjet printer model “Tx500-1800DS” which is targeted at textile and soft signage markets. The “Tx500-1800DS” offers improved print speed on polyester fabrics and reduced running cost. The “Tx500-1800DS” will be released in June 2012.

1. Print speed of 150m2/h on polyester fabrics*
The “TX500-1800DS” is equipped with newly developed printheads (Six printheads with three staggered) and achieves 150% faster print speed than our conventional models.

2. New developed ink “Sb300” produces brilliant color and dries fast
The new sublimation ink “Sb300” offers a more affordable price than conventional ink. Furthermore, this ink produces brilliant color and dries fast. Two ink configurations are provided, one is 6-color (Bl,M,Y,Bk,LBl,LM) mode that produces smooth gradation and better pale colors, another one is 4-color (Bl,M,Y,Bk) mode that enhances productivity. Users can choose one of these color modes in accordance with their preference at the time of printer installation.
3. Mimaki Degassing Module: MDM-20
The Mimaki degassing module “MDM-20” eliminates the gasses or bubbles inside the ink. This means nozzle blockage is lessened and the accuracy of ink dot placement is improved. In addition, this module enables the printer to use undegassed bottled inks instead of conventional degassed ink packs, thereby reducing ink costs.
4. AMF ensures stable Media feed/take-up
Mimaki’s unique Auto Media Feeder (AMF) mechanism ensures stable feed/take-up of polyester fabrics.
5. Built-in heater accelerates the drying time of printed media
Printed ink dries quicker and thus the occurrence of ink set-off is lessened.
6. Setting Roll-up media up to 60kg
Roll-up media of up to 60kg and 300mm in diameter can be used. There is no need to frequently change the media, meaning large orders can be handled smoothly and without interruption due to continuous printing. Handles on the roll shaft make heavy rolled media installation easier.
7. Mist absorption filter
The mist absorption filter prevents troubles caused by ink mists and enhances the stability of print operations by suctioning the mist inside the printer and discharging it.
8. User friendly RIP “RasterLink 6” comes standard
The new “RasterLink6” contains various functions including a printing color simulation and a color replacement function which gives printed images a variety of options.

User friendly RIP
1. Easy to follow icons enable users to operate “RasterLInk 6” intuitively and without difficulty.
2. When an icon is clicked, the display screen is switched in the same window, therefore print and other conditions are easily set.
3. Printing progress can be monitored on the main screen.
Color replacement functions
– enhances the ability to re-create printed images.
1. Selected colors from the color charts of RasterLink 6 can be added into swatches of Illustrator.
2. Color matching system
A measured color can be nearly reproduced by selecting a matching color from the profile of RasterLink 6.

Printing color simulation
1. Printing color can be simulated on Illustrator/Photoshop without an actual print.
