Mimaki Engineering Co., Ltd. (President: Hisayuki Kobayashi, Headquarters: Nagano, Japan), a leading manufacturer of wide format inkjet printers, is pleased to introduce today the UJF-6042, which supports the wider A2 size (conventional UJF-3042 series support A3 size) with the advanced function such as 6-color process color + white and 150 mm height.
Adding on top of the larger print size, the UJF-6042 has actualized more precise and more vivid image quality by adopting the following three functions: a ball screw type head conveyance mechanism which was equipped so far only in high-end machines; a higher resolution print mode 1,800 x 1,800 dpi; and a variable dot with the minimum size of 4pl, which enables a smoother gradation.
The printer shipment is expected to be released in December 2012.

The UJF-6042 supports A2 size & 150 mm height and enhances image quality with a high precision conveyance mechanism and a higher resolution print mode.
Near-photo quality!
Along with the enhancement of the printing resolution and the accuracy of the ink drop onto the substrate, a variable dot with the minimum size of 4pl is incorporated, enabling near-photo image quality.
Upsized!
The larger flatbed enables printing on two facing pages of the A2 size photo album. When the items are small, an efficient print layout with a lot of objects is possible.
Various media use!
The UV ink is printable on various kinds of substrates, including coated paper, cast-coated paper, leather, acrylic, wood, and metal.
Advanced functions!
The UJF-6042 inherits several state-of-the-art functions from UJF-3042 series.
Eco-friendly!
Equipped with energy saving LED UV curing lights, which emit almost no VOCs.
Features
1. Near-photo image quality
- Beautiful high definition printing by enhancing the printing resolution and the accuracy of the ink drop onto the substrate.
UJF-6042 incorporates a ball screw type head conveyance mechanism equipped only in high-end machines until now. This high precision conveyance mechanism enhances the accuracy of the ink drop placement onto the substrate. Furthermore, a higher resolution print mode of 1,800 x 1,800 dpi is achieved, resulting in highly precise printing.
- Variable dot with a minimum size of 4pl.
The UJF-6042 is equipped with variable dot technology, which ejects three different dot sizes at the same time, with an amazing minimum drop size of 4pl. This realizes more natural and smoother gradation without a grainy appearance.
2. Direct print on substrates up to A2 size & 150 mm height
The larger flatbed enables direct print on media with larger size. For example, for an A2 size photo album with a leather or acrylic cover that contains coated paper or cast-coated paper, effective printing can only be achieved using the UJF-6042.
Glossy or matte finish with clear ink provides a premium feel to the prints. Furthermore, multi-layered print is possible by printing on the same area several times.
Also, in the case that the items are small, an efficient print layout with a lot of objects is possible.
3. Inherits several state-of-the-art functions from UJF-3042 series.
- Mimaki Circulation Technology (MCT)
With Mimaki Circulation Technology (MCT), standard with the UJF-6042, white ink is regularly circulated to avoid settling of white pigment in the ink lines. The feature enables stable output of white ink from the time of machine setup (*1).
- Automatic Primer Application Function (*2).
The automatic inkjet primer application function can apply primer on selected areas, retaining the original feeling of the surface.
- Reverse Print Function
With the reverse print function, the order of over- and under-print can be automatically selected.
- Nozzle Recovery Function
The Nozzle Recovery Function temporarily covers the clogged nozzles with normal nozzles (*3).
*1 MCT works only with white ink.
*2 When choosing LF-200 ink, clear ink is not available.
*3 Nozzle Recovery Function is a temporary failure averting function and its recoverability is limited.
4. Multiple UV inks to fulfill your requirements
The UJF-6042 is extremely versatile, thanks to the multiple ink options that are offered, which enables beautiful gradation with 6-color printing, under- and over-print on transparent materials with white ink, as well as glossy or matte finishes using clear ink.
Three types of UV ink are available to achieve the best print results on a wide range of applications. In addition, eight ink slots enable various ink configurations, such as 6 colors plus white and clear.

5. Eco-friendly! Environmentally conscious LED UV is adopted.
- UV curing printing is an ecological printing method that generates minimal VOCs.
- For UV light, low power consumption and longer life LED is adopted. LED does not generate excessive heat, which enables printing onto a wider range of materials, including on heat-sensitive substrates without media deformation.
6. Software RIP “Raster Link 6” is bundled for ease of use and operator understanding

The new RasterLink6 is focused on being simple and friendly. With its many new functions, the “Software RIP for Everybody” has been achieved and provides for more professional and advanced finished products through its universal accessibility.
Jig Layout Function
Easy imposition of different data by use of jig is achieved by “Jig Layout Function”. By registering the template of jig layout in RasterLink6, the design data can be positioned in the template. This way, intended imposition printing is smoothly operated without using a jig by printing the registered template on the print placement template, because the printed template functions as a jig.
Equipped with imprinting function which supports variable data
Using a list created by Microsoft Excel, etc., you can imprint variable data such as addresses and names.
Web update function
Supports the Web update function, which has been well-received in RasterLinkPro5.
Program updates and profile downloads can be easily performed via the internet.
