Nagano, Japan, June 6, 2023

Mimaki Engineering Co., Ltd. (Head office: Tomi-shi, Nagano, Pref.; President: Kazuaki Ikeda), specializing in industrial inkjet printers, cutting plotters and 3D printers, is to announce the release of "Tiger600-1800TS". The roll-to-roll sublimation transfer inkjet textile printer will make its world debut at ITMA (Milan, Italy) to be held in June 2023, with sales to start in the fall of 2023. Mimaki Engineering intends to promote the digital transformation of textile printing with the announcement of its most productive sublimation transfer printer.

Currently, the majority of the world's textile products are concentrated in a few producing countries and are produced using analog printing. Analog textile printing is a complicated and lengthy production process that requires long lead times for shipment to consumer countries. Therefore, apparel brands and retailers in the consuming countries are required to keep inventories to prevent lost sales opportunities due to shortages, and there is a risk of unsold products, cost incurred by disposal, and environmental impact. In addition, analog textile printing involves frequent exposure to chemical for ink formulation and printing plate cleaning, which posed a safety issue for printing operators.

On the other hand, its diversification of design and colors within the textile and apparel industries spurred demands for digital textile printing technologies abolishing the need for printing plates and ink formulation according to the number of colors. Digital textile printing technology enables the reduction of output to quantities actually required in response to fluctuations in demand, thereby eliminating wasted not-in-demand finished products. It also contributes to the reduction of environmental impact by preventing the emission of wastewater consumed in the cleansing of printing plates.

The newly announced "Tiger 600-1800TS" boasts a maximum printing speed of 550 m2/h (143% in excess of the conventional model) owing to the renovated high-speed printhead and the proprietary image quality enhancement technologies. The improved print speed further contributes to promoting the digital transformation of textile printing.
In addition, Deviating from the conventional model has a structure in which the transfer paper is mounted at the rear of the machine and is wound up at the front of the machine after printing, the new model adopted the structure where the printed paper is re-diverted to the rear side of the machine, thereby succeeding in cutting down the depth of the printer by approximately one-half. The smaller footprint makes it easier for customers considering on introducing multiple units, further improving the responsiveness to the fluctuating demand, also increasing the overall production capability.
Furthermore, the MLSb510 series of sublimation transfer ink to be utilized in "Tiger600-1800TS" is scheduled for acquisition of the bluesign® APPROVED in June 2023. The certificate will provide assurance that this is the highest-level products in the world, with due consideration of the safety of consumers and workers as well as environmental conservation, thus contributing to the sustainability of the textile industry.

*bluesign: A certification for products from sustainable supply chains within the textile and apparel industry. The certification program is administered by bluesign technologies ag, situated in Switzerland.

"Tiger600-1800TS" is scheduled to go on sale from the fall of 2023, with an annual sales of 200 units per year (worldwide) for textile and apparel applications.

With "Something New, Something Different" as our management vision, Mimaki Engineering will continue to pursue new technological innovations constantly and to realize the "beauty and speed" that our customers demand.

Exhibition overview

Name: ITMA 2023 (International Textile Machinery Exhibition)
Exhibition Dates: Thursday, June 8 - Wednesday, June 14, 2023
Venue: Fiera Milano RHO (Milan, Italy)
Booth: H7-C304

Primary features

1. Maximum output speed of 550 m2/h (143% faster than the previous Mimaki model)

Maximum output speed for "Tiger600-1800TS" is 550 m2/h, amounting to 143% increase over the maximum output of 385 m2/h for the conventional "Tiger-1800B MkIII". Productivity of the model stands out among Mimaki sublimation dye transfer printers, and should further promote the digital transformation within the field of analog textile printing.

2. One-half the footprint

The model has a structure that transfer paper setting and the printed paper winding are both executed in the rear side of the machine, thereby succeeding in cutting down the depth of the printer by approximately one-half. The smaller footprint makes it convenient for customers considering on introducing multiple units, it contributes to expand the customer's digital textile printing business.

3. bluesign® APPROVED (scheduled for certification in June 2023)

The certificate will provide assurance that the dye sublimation ink MLSb510 used in this model is one of the highest products in the world, with due consideration of the safety of consumers and workers as well as environmental conservation, thus contributing to the sustainability of the textile industry.

4. Reduction of maintenance man-hours and time loss

Ink tanks allow for replacement without the need for stopping the operation of the printer and does not create down time.
Instead of belt-conveying the transfer paper, the roller-feeding method is implemented. Hence the application of adhesive agent on the belt become unnecessary, concurrently eliminating the need for maintenance for the agent replacement.
