Case Study

Challenges
Improvements
Since our existing UV printer for creating soft packaging samples causes color unevenness, we want to make a replacement purchase. Printing quality should be as high as that of gravure printing in mass production.
UCJV300-75 has cleared our requirements such as speed, color reproduction, supported media, and availability. Although we introduced a Mimaki product for the first time, we were able to complete smooth switch to the printer with no trouble.

We want to efficiently print "flavor cards"* that would not worth the cost when using screen printing or UV flatbed machines. * Thin film material and small lot
Introduction of roll-type UCJV300-160 allows us to respond to soft material printing. When compared to addition of JFX200, we could reduce installation space and introduction cost, so introduced UCJV300-107 as the second machine. By using this printer and the flatbed JFX200 differently depending on the material, productivity has increased across the company.

We hope to realize digitalization so we can respond to a wider range of needs utilizing the hand textile printing techniques.
As the device does not need plates, it can handle small-lot production of diversified products, which realized shorter production time. Unlimited number of printed colors widened the scope of design possibilities.

2-liter ink packs cannot cope with all-night output sessions. Reduction of operator intervention requirements is also an issue.
The 10 kilogram ink supply unit facilitates extensive duration unmanned output operations in the night time. The unit concurrently enhances the work efficiencies of operators.

Reduction of cost, including the time and money taken for outsourced trial printing, and exploration of possibilities of textile design that has many restrictions.
In-house trial testing has resulted in cost reduction in terms of time and money and in improved proposal quality. Digitizing opens up limitless possibilities for new textile design expression.

Subcontracting the production of small decals, seals and business proposal dummies in minor quantities is often comparatively expensive and inefficient. Looking for small cutting plotters to process such knickknacks.
Major cost reduction on minor lot production with CFL-605RT. Extremely handy and easy to use. Internal production facilitates the perception of progress from production to shipment, greatly reducing in-corporate stress. Additionally, CFL handles the troublesome hand-crafting of planning samples, freeing the marketing personnel from the task and enhancing business efficiency not to mention the proposing power.

We would like to deal with a small-lot production of goods. Moreover, we also would like to produce packages associated with them in-house.
Adoption of UJF-6042 and CFL-605RT has enabled us to in-house production. CFL-605RT is utilized not only for packages production but also for the manufacturing of variant seals. Our rate of acceptance of orders has increased sharply by making and submitting one sample.

Although we have outsourced the manufacturing of button badges and pasteboards to subcontractors (for offset printing and punching processes), it took a lot of cost for us to deal with work operation of a small-lot production.
Introduction of CFL-605RT and a laser printer enables us to realize reduction of manufacturing cost by a factor of 10 and a significant reduction in delivery time. Furthermore, our scale of business is expanding by introducing UJF-6042MkII and producing acrylic key holders in-house.

When a roll-type small cutting plotter was used, media setting was difficult and thus preparation was time-consuming. We also wanted to increase the cutting accuracy.
CFL-605RT has higher accuracy and easier setting than the roll-type counterpart, making the downtime very short. Since the cutting speed is also fast, time loss and media loss are significantly reduced. The sense of “quick creation and show” becomes effective in up-selling during proposal phase.

Improvements
When cutting storefront POP items into odd shapes, a relatively large cutting plotter was used or manual cutting was performed, which made it difficult to achieve delicate cutting. With a conventional machine, small defects were found, such as visible cuts made on the back side, and the overflow of adhesives created on media with adhesives, which caused stains.
Introduction of CFL-605RT enables precise, perfect cutting, which increases technical and proposal skills of the company. More products are adopted at a sample creation phase. There is no failure due to manual cutting, which reduces wasted production costs.
